“Alkaline”

Lyrics:
10 feet tall, we fall hard when we fall down
it’s of little use, the power to recall
given good advice, for pushing down
situations new, matters left alone
education trip the self-made laws
if I’m interested, I am pulling up
pilot addicted to sitting still
wrong advantages are doing harm
a more convenient seed is inexact

“Alkaline” is the seconds collaboration with Mike Hoff. Mike, like Rich is fast becoming a contributor to this project rather than a collaborator. So allow me to take a few seconds to introduce Mr. Mike Hoff:

Mike Hoff is a bad mother****** who would kill you just as soon as look at you. He does not like being touched. When approaching Mike Hoff make no sudden movements and do not make eye contact. It’s very possible that simply reading this paragraph has already alerted Mike Hoff to your presence in the world as he is a powerful psychic. It’s probably a good idea to put your affairs in order. Mike Hoff can kill with his mind.

He has also played drums with Moviegoer, Pulaski, The Propellers, Mike Raymond, Gunga Din, and several other acts not of this world that you would be best not to ask any more questions about.

“Sirenta Get Well”

Lyrics:
had to fall asleep
posed before our eyes
pretty as cam be
know that she’s alive
places far away
happen all the time
on and on and on
only she could breathe
father rest tonight
mirror looks at she
day that has arrived
ideas want to see
never cross your mind
on and on and on

This is the 3rd collaboration with Mr. Rich Fulton. I’ve decided to stop collaborating with Rich and take this time to identify him as a contributor to the 140 project. Expect a good number of these tunes to feature Rich as we generally find ourselves wandering into my studio after a few cocktails on the weekends. This is another song we improvised the bass and guitar tracks / arrangement in about 30 minutes. I let it sit for about a week and added another guitar track and vocals this past weekend. The song is about… well, what fun would that be… interpret what you will.

Modern Day Tribe - “Tough Talk” Remix

The first “140″ remix comes from Modern Day Tribe. Modern Day tribe (MDT) started production work almost 9 years ago. Playing shows at the now defunct Underground Pub in Maryland, and various other clubs. As part of R-Evolution and SubSpace Theory production companies MDT and crew hosted parties with the likes of Dieselboy, Feelgood, Scott Henry, Micro, The dever, Dj Who, and more. Now after a brief hiatus… MDT returns…

MDT has multiple tunes posted on Bandcamp and Acidplanet. Check them out.

This is a remix of song 2 “Tough Talk” and it’s super cool.

“Solitude You Can Afford”

Lyrics:

said to judges, he’s unspleasent
he’s on top now, not some reject
4 star, red star, i’m in mental breakdown
watch that which said, want to bet you take down
saving bugs she comes ready for the project
will you take your chances I said you bet
turn ‘em up now a heart attack pre set
i don’t wanna beat ya put all the bets down
ready for the launcher looking for a baby step
only one graceful way to stop a reply
when it’s your turn you stand up on race day
got appreciation got appreciation
blame me sir fascinated
reputation always wasted
heard this call you know too much
not much at all and now you’re done

Song 22 of 140

This is another Saturday tune that just appeared. I’m supposed to be finishing up 6 other songs, and as I finished up my coffee on Saturday morning, cruising around the house with my DC-59, strumming away, the whole idea for this song just pops into my head. Recorded in less than 2 hours, idea to completion… It’s on the noisy side so for those of you that dig Sonic Youth, you should dig this.

“Unschooled”

Lyrics:

the sky, a color,
disease another
the final burst in sight
been followed all night
should have known from the very start
you never prepared
you never prepare
deceived,
I can’t believe my brother
been chasing my whole life
been guided without a light
I’ve tried this costume
taken this pale disguise

Song 21 of 140

Yet another collaboration with Mr. Rich Fulton started on Wed. Jun. 3. The song is called unschooled for a number of reasons. One, Rich and I had no plan for the song when we started working on it Wed. night. We just picked a groove we wanted to work with and we both just started playing whatever we wanted and recording it. Very very very unrehearsed. By about the 5th pass through recording, we were happy with what we had cobbled together and moved on to another tune. Seriously. That’s what happens when you play music with someone for over 15 years. Added the bass line and tweaked the drums on Saturday… wrote the vocals in the kitchen while making lunch, recorded them later in the afternoon. Mixed it sunday… and I give you…

“Bottom of the Box”

Lyrics:

I’m here
at the bottom of the box
I’ve been waiting here
since you put me away
so many years I know
you still remember me,
I was your favorite, I was your prize
when you first took me home
but Now I’m here
in the bottom of the box
so dark and dusty
and painfully lonely
won’t you please take me out,
put me back on the shelf
so I can see them and they can all see me
Won’t you please

Song 20 of 140

When songs are supposed to come out… they just do. This one should be pretty self explanatory, it’s not that complex of a metaphor. :)

Hope you enjoy it.
